Hinton Green - House's History
It is believed that Hinton Green Country House dates back to possibly 1550 and was originally a forge.
The house has been added to over the centuries but the earliest part comprised of just four rooms, two upstairs and two down. Some of the original building that was used for keeping animals has been developed through the years and is now part of the current accommodation.
During its history the house has also been a rectory with local folklore saying that the slabs surrounding the front garden are in fact gravestones!
Situated in the village of Peterchurch on the Herefordshire Border with Wales the cottage is within easy walking distance of the village centre where there is a convenience store and hairdressers. The village also enjoys the rare pleasure of an excellent restaurant and two country pubs both of which serve a wide range of country cooking all within 10 minutes walk.
The area is renowned for its peace and beauty. Peterchurch is a thriving and active farming community in the centre of the Golden Valley with the River Dore flowing through the village.
