Hinton Green - Places of Interest & Surroundings
In the historic Peterchurch village you can find the Church of St. Peters which is a handsome structure with three Norman style arches and a fine spire.
The Hereford trail runs through Peterchurch very close to Hinton Green Country House. There are many other local walks and trails including Offas Dyke (ref: www.herefordshiretrail.com).
The pretty ancient cathedral City of Hereford is just 12 miles distant and provides many attractions including the Mappa Mundi and Chained Library housed in the stunning Getty building. The Waterworks and Cider museums are a must for family day out. There are numerous historic buildings including the old black and white house in High Town. The Courtyard Arts Centre offers a packed schedule of theatre, music and performing arts. The bustling shopping centre has a permanent Butter Market with livestock and open markets every week.
9 miles to the north of Peterchurch lays Hay-on-Wye famous for its numerous book shops and Literary Festival each May. Quaint buildings in narrow streets, the castle and river, good shops and restaurants make Hay a must for visitors.
There are also many activities for all ages including pony trekking, cycling, fishing, canoeing, rambling and hang gliding.
Nearby are the picturesque areas of the Wye Valley, Forest of Dean and Symonds Yat and the historic buildings of Llanthony Priory, Dore Abbey and the castles of Longtown and Eastnor.
The Black Mountains, Welsh Borders and Brecon Beacons are within easy reach.
